I passed the year! I completed and then actually passed the year! Yay!

Except, my circumstances have changed and I may have to defer the second year. Woe. I mean nothing catastrophic has happened, everyone is fine and we're not desperately short of money... but... circumstances, dammit.

I'll figure something out, there are alternate avenues to be taken.

But, hey, I did pass the year, yo. Go me!

Amazon Rank

amazon rank
Function: verb
Inflected Form(s): amazon ranked

1. To censor and exclude on the basis of adult content in literature (except for Playboy, Penthouse, dogfighting and graphic novels depicting incest orgies).
2. To make changes based on inconsistent applications of standards, logic and common sense.

Etymology: from 12 April 2009 removal of sales rank figures from books on Amazon.com containing sexual, erotic, romantic, gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered or queer content, rendering them impossible to find through basic search functions at the top of Amazon.com's website. Titles stripped of their sales rankings include "Bastard Out of Carolina," "Lady Chatterly's Lover," prominent romance novels, GLBTQ fiction novels, YA books, and narratives about gay people.

Example of usage: "I tried to do a report on Lady Chatterly's Lover for English Lit, but my teacher amazon ranked me and I got an F on grounds that it was obscene."

Alternate usage: "My girlfriend wanted to preserve her virginity, and I was happy to respect that, then she amazon ranked and decided anal sex was okay."

Hope you all had a suitably appreciative Mother's Day.

Turns out my idea of a good MD is spend hours folding clothes, cleaning the kitchen and cooking up a storm - and all because I saw a Morrisons ad on TV. *le sigh*

I actually feel rather accomplished though, I can see the floor of my room - folding clothes -  and I've discovered that there is a large table in my kitchen - this would be the cleaning part of the day - and there is no need for me to do more than fire up the microwave for the next week - otherwise known as cooking up a storm. All of which leaves me feeling all Domestic Goddess-like, or you know, motherly and thus happy Mother's Day to me!

The Boy (previously known as The Offspring) made me two cards, one in school and the other yesterday on the laptop. I love them both but yesterday's one I love just that bit more because he made it without prompting just to make me happy. I am very happy.

Current Mood: cheerful

I've friended a few journals recently (for the fic, baby, for the FIC!) and as my own journal is, how can I put it? Rather minimalist, I thought I'd introduce myself. Sort of.

I am a parent and student (full time and proper this academic year \o/). I read a lot. A heck of a lot. If I'm not reading, I'm simming (TS2 FTW!). And if I'm not simming, I'm gaming (why, yes I do have a massive crush on The Offspring's PS2 and am willing to sell my soul for a 360. Is that so wrong?)

If I've friended you it's because you write fantastic SPN - Bottom!Dean Wincest or Gen, and SGA - McShep or Gen, with an emphasis on Hurt!Rodney.

I can't think of anything else that anyone might want to know right now and the fact that it's the wee hours here and I'm missing The Offspring (activity camp) isn't helping either, so feel free to ask anything if you are so inclined.

Either way, have a nice day now.

Got an ID card and everything. Now they have to let me in!

Finance has been approved but still waiting on the specifics/paperwork. But \o/ anyway.

Friday means more dull, long-ass very important Introductory Meetings which should result in me being given the timetable, allowing me to worry about plan my childcare for when teaching starts on Monday.

I am stupid-excited right now.

It's kinda off-key how much I like this little ditty. I have no idea how to do one of those nifty little embedded Youtube vids (and no real desire to find out just now) so here are the lyrics:

Oh no, Oh no, Oh no
Yo Yo Yo
Oh no you didn't
Sucker tried to play me
But you never paid me, Neva
Oh no you didn't
Payback is a' coming
You will be runnin', foreva
Oh no you didn't
Until i get my vengeance
I will never end this mayhem
Oh no you didn't
I'm a mercenary
You ain't got a prayer, you owe MEEEEEE

Why yes, I do believe this is spammy.

I'm going to Uni!! \o/

Not sure if the funding is going to do the job, plus ongoing finance is gonna kick my ass, but...

I'm going to Uni!! \o/

The Offspring is like 'Okay, yeah? Pleased for you but what's with the jumping up and down and the permanent 'upraised-arms-of-triumph'?'

This year my eldest younger sister (think about it, it does make sense) is also going, although not to the same university, as is my younger cousin.

Only this time I'm doing it right; no last minute application/enrollment thus spending the next four months with the deep down knowledge that I've scammed this!  I blagged my way onto this course! I don't deserve to be here!  ...And so on.

I applied.  I tested. I interviewed. I enrolled. I start next Monday.

This should work for me, for us.
